About Alexis

Originally from Michigan, Alexis Abu has trained extensively in many realms of the dance industry including: studio, crew, professional, and dance team, and in multiple styles of dance including Hip Hop, Jazz, Pom, Tap, Contemporary, Ballet and Pointe, Lyrical, Modern, and Afro-Brazilian. She grew up as a competitive dancer, winning many prestigious titles, awards and scholarships from notable competitions and conventions. She went on to train with Mission Accomplished Crew where she performed at various events and competitions including World of Dance. She also trained and performed pre-professionally for the NBA with the Pistons Performing Arts Center and professionally for the Jimmy John’s Field with the United Shore Professional Baseball League (USPBL) dance crew. 

After graduating with both her associates degree in Business Administration and with her high school diploma in 2018, Alexis went on to study at Alma College to pursue bachelors degrees in Business Management, Dance, and Psychology. Here, she became a member of The Alma Dance Team and has had the honor of holding 6 Collegiate National Championship titles, as well as being named a two-time NDA All-American Collegiate Dancer and two-time NDA Top-Gun Hip Hop recipient. As a 4-year member of Alma Dance Team, she served as dance captain, choreographed combos and game-day routines for her team and assisted with nationals routines. 

Alexis has choreographed competition pieces and master class combos for studios, Game-Day routines for the USPBL, performance pieces for Mission Accomplished Crew, pieces featured in Student Choreography concerts at Alma College, Game-Day routines for Alma Dance Team, as well as competition routines for multiple high school and college programs across the country. Her routines have won state titles and have been awarded top 10 placements at the DTU High School National Championship.

As a professional her desire to learn and improve in all styles of dance remains. Alexis enjoys challenging the “norm” both on and off the dance floor. She is always striving to better herself and to inspire those around her to do the same. She believes where there is passion, there is purpose and she is determined to devote this next chapter of her life to pursue and share her passion for dance with talented teams all over the world!
